Florida House Bill HB4099 On Hold
Florida House Bill HB4099, initiated by the Palm Beach Country Estates Landowners’ Association and filed with the legislature on Friday, January 9, 2026, proposes a reorganization of the Board of Supervisors and other organizational and operational changes. The bill was referred to the Intergovernmental Affairs Subcommittee on January 15, 2026.
Executive Director William Kennedy has stated that this bill was never formally communicated to the District, nor was it presented to the Board for consideration in any official capacity. The bill was discussed at length at the Board of Supervisors' January 15, 2026, monthly meeting. A majority of the Board of Supervisors voted to oppose this legislation in its present form.
On January 22, 2026, the bill's sponsor, Meg Weinberger, sent a letter to the Intergovernmental Affairs Subcommittee chairman asking that the bill be held and not placed on the following week's agenda to allow time to address the numerous inquiries her office had received regarding the process surrounding the bill and that "certain important discussions with constituents and stakeholders did not take place prior to the bill's referral."
Updates will be provided as they become available.
